History

Boy Scout activities were first commenced in the Atolls by Madhrasathul Ifthithaah in the year 1986. It was formed under the guidance of Mohamed Hussain, the present Deputy Principal. It was run temporarily until Mohamed Wafir (Asreevilla, Lh.Naifaru) took charge and became the first Scout Leader of Ifthithaahee Scouts.On 12th July 1986 a team from Maldives Boy Scout Association visited the Madhrasathul Ifthithaah with an aim of improving and guiding the scouting activities and hence helped the troop with theirfirst enrolment and observed the activities carried out then as well. The first batch swore oath on 10th September 1986. Numerous activities were organized in this year.

Scouting in Madrasathul Ifthithaah continued flawlessly with a handful of enthusiastic students until late 1991. It came to a halt because the number of members declined in the group, as most of them moved to Male’ for secondary education.

Restarting of Boy Scout Activities

Ifthithaahee Scouts came back to life after six years in the year 1998, with the recommendation from the headmaster Mr.Adam Shareef. After being restarted, scouting activities continued to flourish year after year.

Activities which took place during that time

  • Scouts from Madhrasathul Ifthithaah participated in a swimming event in Male’ in order to complete their Second Class Activities.
  • Ifthithaahee Scout Troops also took part in the First National Scout Jamboree held at K.Kudaban’doson 20th September 1986.
  • Ifthithaahee scouts first prize day took on 15th December 1987
  • Scouts from Madhrasathul Ifthithaah held their 2nd Camp fire on 24th October 1988 on the occasion of National day.
  • Furthermore, two scouts of Madhrasathul Ifthithaah participated in the SAARC Scout Jamboree held in Sri Lanka in 1990.
  •  The first outdoor camp organized by the Scouts of Madhrasathul Ifthithaah took place in Vavvaru on 22nd December 1990.

Purpose and objectives

  • Scouting helps to develop self-reliance, self-confidence and self-respect
  • Scouting programs emphasize citizenship in terms of duties, obligation, privileges and functions of citizens
  • Scouting activities promotes fitness and encourages scouts to develop athletics skills, however general well-being and good habits is the main focus.
  • Scouting develops relationships and helps to work as ateam

 Current status

There are now over 35 active Boy Scouts in Madhrasathul Ifthithaah. They are young men aging from 12-16. Ali Arafaath and Fathmath Nuwaira are the present Scout Leaders of Ifthithaahee scouts.

Students are divided into these two troops and each troop is divided into four patrols. Each troop has a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL). Then the troops are divided in to patrols, each patrol managed by a Patrol Leader (PL) and an Assistant Patrol Leader (APL).

Scout meeting are conducted every Friday on a weekly basis. A subscription of RF.1 has to be paid by scouts on every official meeting held on every Friday.
